Memphis, TN
Sun Studio
Beale Street
Sam Phillips opened this recording studio in Memphis. It was originally called Memphis Recording Service before the Sun Records label was launched, and it was only operational at this location for ten years. This is the recording studio 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first two songs - both for his mother. He continued to record here for a number of years, before moving to RCA.

Beale Street
First things first....Lunch. The tour guide at Sun Studios said this is the place for "wet" ribs. Gotta try them.
They believe.
They do look good with a few tamales on the side. We split a slab and took some home, too.
The signs on Beale Street are interesting by themselves.
A Historic Marker
Saving History
Another Marker
Since we were here during the day, we didn't expect it to be real busy. To our surprise, there was music flowing out of many of the establishments and the streets were filled with people.
