New Mexico Space Museum & Petroglyph Park

March 15, 2017
The International Space Hall of Fame & Museum
The New Mexico Museum of Space History
Three Rivers Petroglyph Site
Alamogordo, NM

I guess it does look like a pergola, so why not sit under it and have lunch.

Here it is after the picnikers have gone.

Out side there is a park dispaying some of the space vehicles.

This is the remains of a V2 rocket fired here after the war.

The signs explain the vehicles.

Landscape around the Museum

Flight Suit.

The view from the front of the Space Museum is amazing.  The white strip in front of the mountains in the distance is White Sands National Monument which is over 20 miles away.

Some of the food for the Space Shuttle.  That Pepsi can looks like a whipped cream can.

SkyLab Toilet.  Not sure how to actually use it.

The many layers of a space suit.

Land forms.

The Trinity Site Memorial  The site of the first detonation of an atom bomb.  It's open to the public only 2 times a year.

This is a memorial to the astronauts who lost their lives in the pursuit of space travel

How many Gs can you take?

HAM  is buried here.

The Three Rivers Petroglyph Site

This old lady couldn't walk the steep hill to the site and Abby was not allowed, so we wandered around down here.  Donna went and took these photos.

There was not a lot of information about these petroglyphs at the site.  I suggest the following websites for more info.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Rivers_Petroglyph_Site
https://www.blm.gov/nm/st/en/prog/recreation/las_cruces/three_rivers.html

This taken at the first level above the parking area.  The shelter at top right is where I was sitting with Abby.

Donna likened the rock formation to a spine as it rose up in a curvy spiky row.

There's that parking area again.  Glad I didn't attempt the climb.

The old school house.
