San Antonio Mission Trail.
Sign in Texas Parking Lots. I feel so safe. At the historic missions, no less.
The Mission Trail is part of the 15 mile paved river walk. It begins with Mission Espada and continues to Downtown San Antonio. Our RV park was adjacent to the trail about 4 miles from downtown. Donna rode her bike those 4 miles and was impressed with the trail.
The missions were more than just churches, they were fortified communities. There were 6 missions along the San Antonio River in the 1700's. Five of them survived and helped form the foundation for the city of San Antonio. We saw four today, the fifth one is the Alamo. It is not a part of the National Park system. These four missions still have services every week.
