We left Niagara county and headed east toward St. Johnsville for an overnight in their Marina and City park.
We trusted MapQuest to get us there. It did, but it took us up and down hills and through curvy roads. Donna got real hands on experience with how and when to down shift. When we checked in, we asked if there was a better route and the guy laughed and said yes, and he couldn't figure out why MapQuest took us that way, or as he called it, "the back way".
The park was nice and we drove around the little town of just over 2000 people. We walked around the little park.
The next morning, we headed east to a campground in lower New Hampshire. We left the easier route and it certainly was easier.
On the Interstate, we came up on this. Not the kind of thing you want to see when you're on the other side of the road and driving a similar rig. I tried to get another, better photo, but a semi pulled up next to us. It looked like the towed car caught fire. The rig looked like a diesel, so the engine is in the back, but the flames appeared to be coming from under the hood of the car. I wish them the best.
We got settled in at 3 Ponds Campground, did some shopping and got haircuts. On Saturday we headed toward the Atlantic Ocean. This is Hampton Beach on a Saturday afternoon. We couldn't find parking, so we got out of there, but there's the Ocean.
We found a little park in town. It had a playground and a couple ball fields and no dogs allowed.
We walked up the block a bit to an old cemetery.
I found this tombstone to be interesting.
