Lake Superior and the "Way Up North"

We left Chetek on Thursday June 9th and headed north.  We stopped at the visitors center out side of Ashland, WI.  This place was pretty cool, it has a museum and a theater, and it contains a wealth of information.  The ranger at the desk was very knowledgeable.

We landed at Frontier Bar and RV Park in Saxon, WI (actually the town was Cedar, but it was too small to get it's own PO).

The park was pretty nice and that cell tower in the background gave us pretty high speed internet.  We downloaded a couple movies while we were there.  We were parked in the back of the park near the woods.  It was quiet and very nice.

It seems that it has rained some every day since we got to Wisconsin.  It was no different here.  Some days only a little and others a lot.

This is Waterfall Country so we tried to see a few of them.  Friday we went to Potato River Falls and Morgan Falls.

We couldn't get real close to this one, so these photos are from a lookout above the falls.  Probably easier to see after the leaves fall.  We wanted to go to Copper Falls, but we had Abby with us and the park check-in person was a stickler.  NO DOGS, so we thought we might go back another day, but we never did.

Morgan falls was a bit off the road and the then a .7 mile walk to the falls.  It was worth it.  We had lunch in the parking lot, the red dust was thick.  Check out the rear window of the car.
