Charlestown Shipyard and Bunker Hill

August 22, 2016

The Charlestown shipyard

We had lunch in the Galley

The ships were not open for touring today.

On the side of the building.

More Hills

Bunker Hill Memorial.  The battle of Bunker Hill actually took place June 17, 1775 on Breeds Hill, which is where the memorial was erected.  Bunker Hill was a nearby taller hill.

Colonel William Prescott

Dr. Joseph Warren  He was a Major General in the Massachusetts militia, but volunteered as a private to follow Colonel Prescott.  He was killed in this battle.

A unique storefront

There's a Holocaust memorial in a park near the subway station and this famous quote can be seen there.  It was all glass with the victims names engraved in the glass. I couldn't get good photos with the reflections and storefronts.

These two bars were by the memorial.

This was our last trip to Boston, so here is the trolley that we caught in Mattapan each day to get to the Boston transit station in Ashmont.
